Social Change Project: Gender-Based Violence Awareness



Gender-based violence undermines the health, dignity, security, and autonomy of its victims, yet it remains shrouded in a culture of silence. Victims of violence can suffer sexual and reproductive health consequences, including forced and unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, traumatic fistula, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and even death.

This campaign hopes to raise awareness and combat violence against all sets of gender identity. 

Let us all take a stand against ending gender-based violence.

As the current situation worsens, more and more women are being kept silenced by their oppressors; having limited to no means of access and awareness about the available services they can reach out to for support. Recent data have shown that all forms of violence against women and girls, particularly domestic violence, have increased in number. With the focus being centered on health services, victims had nowhere else to go, as they sought shelter from the violence they experienced. The 911 emergency hotline is now catering to emergencies related to gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against women and children (VAWC).
